Hi friends today I m back to solve the most common problem – pendrive is detected but not showing up in PC. Sometime when we connect any external hard disk, CD/DVD, memory card to our PC, then it is detected by our system but it does not show up under my computer.

If a drive does not show up under my computer then how should we access it?
It’s not possible to access a drive unless it show up under my computer. So what’s the main cause behind it?
The main reason behind a drive not showing up is the absense of letter assigned to a drive. Sometimes due to many reasons a drive could not get a path or letter by which it can get accessed by us. So in these situations we have to manually assign a path or letter to it. So today we are going to learn how to assign a path or letter to a pendrive to solve the common problem –

Follow these simple steps to fix “pendrive is Detected but not showing” error.
Click on start button and then open run prompt.
In windows 8 search “Run” and click on it. You may also use keyboard shortcut “Windows + R”

Type compmgmt.msc in run prompt and press enter.
Now in left side, click on disk management option.
Under disk management all the PC drives including pendrive are listed.
Now right-click on your pen drive and click on the option “Change Drive Letter and Path”.
Now a pop-up will open. Click on “Add” option.
Now a new pop-up will open. Simply select the first option – Assign the following drive letter” , simply choose your desired drive letter which is different then previously assigned letter to your drives. click ok.
Now simply restart your PC and you will see that your pendrive not showing problem is solved successfully.
